General Information

The objective of this statistics portal is to provide all available statistical information relating to the different aspects of the Judicial Administration. This information has been scarce and incomplete for many years, focused mainly on the information derived from the quarterly statistical bulletins compiled by the General Council of the Judiciary, and certain statistics related to bodies or court records carried out by the National Statistics Institute. Although there are still many shortcomings, the situation has improved significantly in recent years, thanks to the development of the National Judicial Statistics Plans drawn up by the National Commission for Judicial Statistics.

Information, which is organised according to thematic areas, can be accessed from the portal. Instant access can also be made to the different studies and statistical reports drawn up by the General Council of the Judiciary, to the Socioeconomic Information System of judicial boundaries, which provides demographic and economic information in terms of each of the territory divisions used by the Judicial Administration, and to the judicial statistics database in PC AXIS, which enables access to detailed information for each of the Spanish judicial bodies from 1995 to the most recent publication (four months after the close of year). Information is also ordered according to the structure of the National Judicial Statistics Plan in force, making it possible to pursue the implementation thereof.

The annual and quarterly reports drawn up by the General Council of the Judiciary are published according to a predetermined schedule, which is clearly displayed on the Portal. Users are also provided with a mail box which can act as a communication channel with the Council’s Statistics Division, for the purposes of requesting clarifications, making suggestions or requesting information.

The Portal includes a section related to historic judicial statistics, with data taken from the Yearbooks of the National Statistics Institute or from the Kingdom’s former Statistical Commission, which dates back to 1858.
