Information Technology within the Judiciary

Section for Information Technology within the Judiciary, which is currently dependent on the CENDOJ, is mainly responsible for:

  • Promoting the use of technical, electronic and telecommunications technology in the Courts, in particular those that help to guarantee the authenticity, integrity and security of the judicial information in digital format.
  • Ensuring compliance with the requirements and other conditions that affect the automated files for which the Courts are responsible, especially those relating to the protection of personal data and its security.
  • Preserving the compatibility of the IT systems used in the Judicial Administration, by applying the requirements established by the General Council of the Judiciary in the “Compatibility Test”.
  • Facilitating the normalisation of the processing outlines and models of documents used in the courts, by using the computer systems for procedural management, and promoting the homogenisation of the computer records of judicial proceedings.
  • Encouraging intercommunication of the different systems for procedural management in the Judicial Administration, including the organisations and institutions that collaborate with the Judicial Administration, via the communications network “Judicial Internet Exchange Point”
  • Promoting intercommunication between the General Council of the Judiciary and the Courts when exercising the competences attributed by the Organic Law on the Judiciary, and in particular, the collection of data for statistical purposes directly from the procedural management information systems.
  • Promoting the development of information systems that facilitate the task of the Council in exercising its competences, and in particular those derived from the needs of the Commission for Judicial Organisation and Modernisation, using the general resources available to the Council.

 Internal IT

The internal IT department of the General Council of the Judiciary has the primary task of providing all of the Council’s staff with the hardware and software tools that facilitate their work, as well as managing and maintaining the corporate email with the domain @cgpj.es

It defines, administrates, configures and maintains the central IT system, located physically in the different data processing centres of the Council’s offices, comprised of servers, electronic network elements, data networks, data storage systems, and other types of equipment, as well as the corporate intranet.

It manages and carries out the implementation, management and update of the general corporate IT applications: Management of human resources and payslips, management of hiring, finance and accounting management, general records, monitoring of employee presence, monitoring visitor access, stock control, inventory, press; as well as corporate and departmental applications more specific to the activity of the CGPJ, such as: inspection, management of reports and complaints, training, etc.

It also provides advice, and produces the technical reports necessary for IT contracting, technical assessment of bids presented by bidding companies in various IT projects under its competence, and manages their execution.
