The Protocol for dealing with sexual, gender-based, discriminatory and all other forms of harassment and violence affecting members of the Judiciary was drawn up jointly by the Equality Commission of the General Council of the Judiciary and the National Commission for Health and Safety of the Judiciary. It was approved by the CGPJ’s Standing Committee on 17th February 2015 and published in the Spanish Official State Gazette on 17th February 2016.

To comply with the Protocol’s provisions and facilitate its application, the CGPJ’s Equality Commission and the National Commission for Health and Safety of the Judicial Career have jointly prepared a Guide for Applying the Protocol. They also drew up recommendations regarding the appointment of Confidential Advisors. These documents have also been approved by the CGPJ’s Standing Committee on 25th February 2016.

By approving this Protocol and its accompanying documents, which develop the provisions contained in the Equality Plan for the Judiciary, the CGPJ formally expresses its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy about harassment and violence in the Judiciary, regardless of who the victim or the harasser is, or their status is within the judiciary.

Faithful to this commitment, the CGPJ will promote a corporate culture of preventing and eradicating harassment through training, information and awareness-raising activities. It will mediate and investigate all complaints. It will advise and provide support to those who have suffered such behaviour to ensure that they may recover their personal and professional life.
