Ordinary Chambers - Fifth Chamber – Composition

The Military Chamber is governed by its specific legislation and additionally by the Organic Law on Judicial Power and by the system common to the other Chambers of the Supreme Court (Art. 55 LOPJ).

It was created by Organic Law 4/1987, on Competence and Organisation of Military Jurisdiction (Art. 22).

Composition

In accordance with the provisions of the Law on Judicial Bodies and Boundaries and Article 24 of Organic Law 4/1987, the Fourth Chamber (for Military Matters) of the Supreme Court is composed of a President and seven Magistrate-Judges. Four of the eight are to be drawn from the judiciary and the other four from the military judiciary and they permanently acquire the condition and personal status of Supreme Court Magistrate-Judges upon assuming their posts (Article 28 of Organic Law 4/1987).
