International Judicial Assistance Guide

International Judicial Assistance Guide

The International Judicial Assistance Guide is a tool in web format (permanently updated) that offers Judges, Prosecutors, Lawyers of Administracion of Justice, and other legal professionals, a quick and easy instrument or hand-book, answering the questions that may arise given the existence of international elements in civil or criminal proceedings. These problems may arise as much from an active perspective (issuing a request in the context of proceedings being dealt with by a Spanish judicial organ), as from a passive point of view (receiving a request from a foreign State).

Specifically, the Guide – fruit of the common effort of the Ministry of Justice, the Crown Prosecution Service, and the General Council of the Judiciary in Spain – attempts to answer the most usual questions that arise in the daily operations of judicial practitioners, allowing the identification of international agreements, or other legal regulations applicable to the most usual situations on the subject – an explanatory file about the specific application of the instrument in question is included – and provides information about the different institutions that may offer supplementary support – European, Spanish, or Ibero-American judicial networks, Eurojust, and so on – with a contact directory.

The Guide is revised and updated every three months, regarding the contents and the direct web links to each regulation instrument analysed.
