Iberius

The Iberian American Network of Judicial Information and Documentation, Iberius, is defined as a community for the reciprocal cooperation, agreement and support in the scope of legal information and documentation. Its aim was not to remain a virtual community (it was not created to become another Internet Network), but a real cooperating community.

Moreover, it came from the need to reinforce the national Judicial Branches with regard to the legal information, by means of stable and professional structures, i.e. through the Documentation Centres, with the aim to guarantee the stability and quality of the information, regular update and the sustainability of the Project itself.

This framework defines the two main components integrated in the network:

1. The Project of the Network itself.

2. The national Projects to create or reinforce Documentation Centres.

It is, then, the creation of an Iberian American Network of Judicial Documentation Centres. The Documentation Centres are the bodies giving access to the legal information, systematizing, managing and processing it.

But to guarantee the sustainability of the Project and the quality and permanent updating of the information, the Network pursues the creation of Documentation Centres in those countries where they do not exist, or the reinforcement of those already created. The web site and Project are tools and means.
