Basic information about complaints

If you believe that you have received inadequate service or service in need of improvement from the Administrative Office of the Courts, please send us your complaints or suggestions.

We highly value your opinion about the services the judges and courts have provided.  Your suggestions and complaints help us to run our offices better. 

Format – The Judicial Branches provide a form so that you may present your suggestion or complaint.  You may also do so in another format or letter.  On this page you will find a Citizen Service Form template to print (Spanish), or better, a Citizen Service Form to send instantly through the Web

Response period – In 48 hours we acknowledge receipt and will respond within a month.

Attention – Please note that your complaint will not be qualified as an administrative appeal nor will it stop appeals, lawsuits, or rights deadlines established by law that could further help it.

We cannot answer complaints for:

  • Events that could constitute a disciplinary offense. 
    • Disciplinary character charges pressed against judges and magistrates are in the authority of the Judiciary General Council Disciplinary Committee.
    • Charges related to the Administrative Office of the Courts Customer Service are incumbent on the Supreme Court of Justice, Ministry of Justice, or in cases of personnel transfer, the appropriate Administrative Office
  • Judicial ruling or settlements contain
    • The judges are independent in their jurisdictional duties (art 117 of the Spanish Constitution )
    • The bodies of government of the Justice Department cannot intervene in open judicial processes in order to correct or repeal the decisions made by judges and magistrates.
    • If you are not in accordance with the ruling or settlement made by the judge or magistrate, inquire about whether an appeal is possible, of the deadlines and the correct manner listed in the Hearings Laws in order to lodge an appeal. 

Responsibilities

  • It is the responsibility of the Presiding Judges of the Courts to hear complaints made by the people involved in cases and lawsuits, and to put in place the necessary preventative measures within their power, in accordance with the provisions of the Organic Law on the Judiciary.
  • The Senior Courts and, where these do not exist, individual Judges will deal with complaints made to them by the parties involved in the different proceedings.
  • It is up to the UAC to handle complaints received by the General Council of the Judiciary.
