Estimation Of the Average Duration of Court Proceedings
The average duration of cases completed in each year are estimated figures, regardless of how the case was completed. These estimates have been obtained using a mathematical model based on the numbers of cases filed, resolved and pending at the beginning of each period. The data has been provided by the Judicial Statistics Department of the General Council of the Judiciary. Duration is expressed in months.
The length of court proceedings can be affected by many circumstances. These include staff mobility between judicial bodies. The greater the staff mobility, the slower the response to the public is likely to be. On the contrary, implementing reinforcement measures can improve response times. Indicators are provided for these factors as a guideline, obtained from the Judicial Statistics.
