Tables to help determine child maintenance in family cases

At the suggestion of the Working Group of Judges on Family-Related Matters, the CGPJ has created and made these tables available for judges, magistrates, lawyers and the general public. They are intended as a tool for guidance and have been adapted on the basis of experience in the field; moreover, they have been prepared in accordance with scientific principles and with the technical support of the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE).

The Council provides an online computer application for the tables, to allow for the easy generation of calculations for each case.

The statistical framework of the tables is updated when changes occur to the structure of family-related costs, and at least once every five years.

The meeting of the Permanent Committee of the General Council of the Judiciary on 16 May 2019 approved the updating of the tables to help determine child maintenance in family cases published in 2013 (Informative Note).

The adjoined explanatory report on the update details how the tables were produced and contains a number of basic guidelines on how to use them.
