Ibero-American Commission for Judicial Ethics

The Commission is composed of nine commissioners and an executive secretary elected every four years.
It has an advisory role, demonstrated by the adoption of various decisions on the performance by judges of their functions in areas such as social networks, relationships with the media, the participation of judges in sports tribunals and judges belonging to Masonic lodges.

The Commission has promoted cooperation within the Ibero-American Judicial Area through its annual legal essays awards and through the award that it grants every two years to honour the career of a member of the judiciary.

The members of the Ibero-American Commission for Judicial Ethics are elected by the Ibero-American Judicial Summit during its Plenary Assembly. It is an honorary post, undertaken for a four-year period with the possibility of re-election.

The composition of the current Commission for the 2018-2020 period was approved during the 19th Plenary Assembly of the Ibero-American Judicial Summit, held in April 2018 in Quito, Ecuador.
