The Commission and the United Nation's 2030 Agenda

The Ibero-American Judicial Summit seeks to contribute, through the Ibero-American Code of Judicial Ethics and the activity of its Commission , towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals approved by the United Nations in 2015.

The 16th Goal of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development refers to peace, to justice and to strong institutions and for this purpose seeks to: "Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels".

The 2030 Agenda includes three goals that are particularly relevant in the field of Justice: firstly, "promote the rule of law at the national and international levels and ensure equal access to justice for all" (16.3); secondly, "develop effective, accountable and transparent institutions" (16.6), strengthening them through international cooperation (16.1); and thirdly, "protect fundamental freedoms, in accordance with national legislation and international agreements" (16.10), promoting and enforcing non-discriminatory laws and policies for sustainable development (16.b).
