The Council has been constitutionally granted the competence for the inspection and supervision of all courts to check and control the proper functioning of the Administration of Justice.

The Inspection Service exercises this authority, without prejudice of the powers of inspection granted to the governing bodies of various High Courts and the Court of Appeal.It has its headquarters in Madrid.
