Composition

The Governing Chamber of the Supreme Court is composed of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who presides, the five Chairmen of the Chamber and five Judges of the Supreme Court elected by the Judges of the High Court. The Senior Court Clerk of the Supreme Court serves as the Clerk at the sessions of the Governing Chamber.

All the elected members of the Governing Chamber must be renewed every five years, starting from the date the Chamber was formed. At the end of this term, the Governing Chamber is to continue to perform its duties until a new one is formed (Article 150 LOPJ).

The Vice-President of the Supreme Court will be an ex officio member of the Government Chamber of said Court and it will fall to said party to propose to the chamber and the President the adoption of those decisions aimed at guaranteeing the functioning of the Supreme Court, as well as to oversee the exact execution of the resolutions adopted by the Government Chamber.
