What is the HCJ Catalonia?

The High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJ) constitutes a judicial instance which forms part of the general structure of the unique Judiciary of the State, adapted to its territorial competence.

It is the highest judicial organ in the territorial scope of the autonomous community, without affecting the jurisdiction that corresponds to the Supreme Court (article 152 of the Constitution) or those matters that require constitutional guarantees -- competence that corresponds to the Constitutional Court.

The chairman of the TSJ of Catalonia is the highest representative of the Judiciary in the Autonomous.

The High Court of Catalonia is divided into three sections:

  • Civil and Criminal Court
  • Contentious Administrative Court
  • Labour Court
