The High Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJ) constitutes a judicial instance which forms part of the general structure of the unique Judiciary of the State, adapted to its territorial competence.

It is the highest judicial organ in the territorial scope of the autonomous community, without affecting the jurisdiction that corresponds to the Supreme Court (article 152 of the Constitution) or those matters that require constitutional guarantees -- competence that corresponds to the Constitutional Court.

The TSJM has its seat in the Spanish capital, and it is situated in the heart of the Madrid neighbourhood called ‘Justicia’, near the Madrid historic ‘Visitación’ Monastery, next to the ‘Salesas Reales’ (seat of the Supreme Court), the National Criminal Court and the General Council of the Judiciary.

The chairman of the TSJ of Madrid is the highest representative of the Judiciary in the Autonomous.
